Special Educational Needs and Disability Strategy

Aims to:

  • have high aspirations for all children and young people
  • ensure that the achievement gap between those with SEND and their peers is narrowed
  • include the majority of children and young people in their local early years settings, schools and colleges

The strategy sets out Cornwall Council’s high level strategic priorities relating to SEN for the period 2016–19.

It includes children and young people with disabilities where disability has an impact on their education. These children have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). During 2013-14 the following key partners were committed to, and participated in, the development of this strategy:

  • Services from the Education, Health and Social Care Directorate
  • Health commissioners and providers
  • Mainstream and specialist schools and settings
  • Parents/carers of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities

The Strategy is available on the Cornwall Council website
