Autism and Support after diagnosis

Here you will find all resources feeding into the support after diagnosis section of the Autism Wheel. 

  • Cornwall’s SEND Local Offer describes the provision that is available for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families. 
  • Disabled Children's Record: You will be notified of relevant news and updates about special educational needs and disability (SEND) services for children and young people within Cornwall. It also helps the Local Authority to map where people with SEND live, which can assist in service planning.  The record is not linked to any other register and will not affect entitlement to services or benefits.
  • Diagnosed with Autism: This section is focused on the support available to children with a diagnosis of ASD 
  • Making Contact (previously Contact a Family) – a national charity for families of disabled children. Contact has a ‘A-Z Conditions’ for more information on diagnosed conditions 
  • Parent Carers Cornwall: aim to provide parents of disabled children and children with additional needs with a "voice" in Cornwall. 
  • Parents 4 Parents Cornwallwill accompany you to important meetings, empowering you to ask the questions about your child's needs whether at schools, health care providers or on short breaks etc.
  • Cornwall SENDiass provide information, advice and support for any child or young person aged 0-25 years with a special educational need or disability and their parents and families.
  • Face 2 Face (previously Parent to Parent) is a free, confidential service offering emotional support, information and sign posting to parents of disabled children or children with any additional needs.
  • EHC Plans and the SEN fileis designed to support Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs) and other professionals in meeting the needs of children and young people with SEN. It is also a source of information for parents / carers and young people.
