Johnson, Ms Amanda Louise

Hello, I have been a childminder since 2008 and I have 4 children ranging in age from 37 to 17. I have a BA(Hons) Early Years along with other certificates that enable me to run my business. I am Dobwall based and will do pick ups from Dobwalls school. I have a room specifically for the children which has direct access to the garden. I have a large selection of resources that cover all of the learning goals from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and I follow the same curriculum as the nursery. I am child led and I scaffold the childs play around the child's preferences. I can offer the 2,3 and 4 year funding along with 30 hour funding where applicable

Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

regular monitoring and assessment of children will identify any needs the child may have.

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

Children are assessed regularly as they play and any learning difficulties will be identified and then monitored. I may ask parents to work with me on some activities etc and then asked parents to speak to doctors, health visitors, early years, etc to enable the child to get help. I can also introduce different media play to help the child continue learning. I have sensory aids and many different toys for the child to interact with. I am also autistic aware and have training in autism.

Links we have to other agencies

I work with other professionals involved with the child and these may come into the setting when needed.

How we support children transferring to school

Usually a term before school I introduce more play and learning skills for children transitioning into school. I work throughout the year on teaching children independence skills such as dressing, hygiene, concentration, and continuous learning.

Welfare

Specialist skills or training our staff have

I have and currently work with autistic children,  children with other medical needs such as speech, vision, hearing, and ADHD

Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

I work with the parents to identify children's needs regarding health and well being and will offer support and resources where possible.

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

Parents are told verbally of any immediate issues I have but they can also be told via any means of digital information. I frequently ask parents for updates on their children and try and accommodate any additional needs where I can.

Our complaints policy

parents can tell me verbally if they have a complaint against me or the setting and I will record the complaint and let the person know how I intend to solve/rectify the complaint. If it is a serious complaint then the parent may go to the early year's team or Ofsted. If a parent emails or texts me with a complaint I will record it and supply or rectify it within 28 days keeping the parent in the loop throughout. If a serious allegation is made the person can go to the police and I will inform Ofsted of any complaint made against me of a serious nature and also my Early year's team.

Access

Facilities we have for personal care

I have a bathroom upstairs, and a portaloo downstairs for those unable to access the stairs. I do not have access due to the nature of the building for wheelchair uses however ramps could be considered if needed. I can also supply hot water and towels to any room within the house.

Specialist resources we have

I have sensory toys for the younger children (under 5's)

How we include all children in activities, such as trips

Trips can be tailored to all children's needs by good planning and obtaining resources that will make access easier. A risk assessment is carried out before all trips and anything identified will be taken with us or resources obtained to take.
