Quintrell Downs Montessori School
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

We are a Montessori Nursery for 1-5 year olds offering the EYFS curriculum via the Montessori method. We are open all year round from 8am to 5pm. We place the highest importance on the happiness of your child and guiding them to reach their full potential. We are passionate about family involvement and a partnership between the home and nursery. In addition we believe everyone can play their role in moving towards sustainable living. We only provide organic milk to the children of our nursery, we aim to be as plastic free and possible and as paper-free an administration as possible. Our children learn the importance of respecting and caring for the environment and how to grow food and then how to prepare it. We think free flow time outdoors is essential for the full development and happiness of your child and overall we believe in respecting the child, listening to the child and preparing an environment that is the child's. We welcome you to visit us and see the wonderful environment offered by the Montessori Method.

Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

Quintrell Downs Montessori School encourage shared communication with parents through face to face contact, regular meetings and by using 'Our Montessori Child'. Combining our communication methods with our weekly observations, termly progress reviews, two year old checks, language development checks (ECAT) we can identify or support children  and their families that need additional support.

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

The Montessori approach is all about following and observing each individual child and the individual learning and developmental needs. Staff work closely with each child. Staff complete weekly observations, termly progress reviews, two year old checks, language development checks (ECAT) through which we can identify each child's individual learning and development needs.

Links we have to other agencies

We work in partnership, or in tandem, with local and national agencies to promote the well-being of children.  By attending regular training, network meetings and conferences. We are members of the Early Learning Alliance, have regular contact with our early years advisors and other setting managers who can offer support and guidance when needed.   When necessary, we consult with and signpost to local and national agencies who offer a wealth of advice and information that help us to develop our understanding of the issues facing us and who can provide support and information for parents. For example, ethnic/cultural organisations, drug/alcohol agencies, safeguarding, welfare rights advisors or organisations promoting childcare and education, or adult education.

We also have local links with the community, village hall, garden centre and local businesses, supporting each other where we can.

How we support children transferring to school

We have a clear policy which supports children's transitions either coming from another setting or going to school.  We ensure all paperwork and trackers are up to date. We will contact the new school/setting to arrange a handover of all paperwork.  Our aim is to outreach to all local schools and settings which children are leaving to or coming from. We invite the children’s new teacher/staff to visit the setting whilst the children are still in attendance.

Welfare

Specialist skills or training our staff have

Quintrell Downs Montessori School believe in continued professional development and therefore staff attend regular network meetings and training is ongoing.

Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

We have a designated person for safeguarding, health and safety, SEN. We actively follow encourage practices regarding children's health and well being though our curriculums EYFS and Montessori philosophy. We  give advice and support for parents when needed or direct families to other agencies for support.

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

Parents are informed about how their child is being supported by their key worker, via group meetings, individual meetings, Access to their child's progress on My Montessori Child and open days. Staff are available to meet parents whenever there is a need.

Our complaints policy

We believe that children and parents are entitled to expect courtesy and prompt, careful attention to their needs and wishes. We welcome suggestions on how to improve our setting and will give prompt and serious attention to any concerns about the running of the setting. We anticipate that most concerns will be resolved quickly, by an informal approach with the appropriate member of staff. If this does not achieve the desired result, we have a set of procedures for dealing with concerns. We aim to bring all concerns about the running of our setting to a satisfactory conclusion for all of the parties involved.

How we include all children in activities, such as trips
