When working with an individual child, Out of the woods will primarily offer non-directive therapeutic work but will work in a more integrative manner if the therapist feels that this would benefit the child (eg, in addressing a negative misconception, supporting the child to develop relaxation strategies or where direct safety work is advisable.

Today’s climate brings further cuts to our over-stretched Services, so it is imperative I strive and deliver the right support for children at the most crucial time of their lives through ‘Out of the woods’. I fully believe in the power of both play and creativity and the ability to support children to work through positive and challenging life experiences. I’m passionate about providing children with the right support to enable them to reach their full potential. ‘I feel that there are too many children suffering due to circumstances beyond their control. I strongly believe that the world would be a better place if adults spent more time interacting with children and developing stronger and healthier relationships with them through play in order to help children feel safe in this world. It is so rewarding to see a child happy in themselves and thriving, childhood is such a precious time and should be one of happiness and carefree as possible’.
