Downderry Childcare is a privately run organisation and provides day care, a before & after school club (holiday club) for all the children & support for their families/carers.
I have previously worked for Devon & Cornwall Police and decided to become a childminder having experienced problems with childcare myself. I live with my husband and 2 children (14yrs/10yrs) in Downderry. I have been childminding for 10 years and have moved into a newly built 3 storey house which incorporates a ground floor, purpose built facility to cater for a child's every need; including a kitchen/craft area, large games/television area and a separate quiet room. There is a very large double decked outside area overlooking the beach with slides/swings/trampolines etc.
We offer all aspects of the EYFS development stages and pride ourselves on commitment to creating an interesting and homely environment. I live approx 100m from the beach. we have two 8 seater minibus's for outings and regularly spend days (summer) rock pooling or on valley walks, bike riding, ball play, and free play (winter) baking/sewing/painting/model making/small world play/role play. All activities are focused on fun and free play and all ages catered for. Toys are constantly being rotated/updates to keep up with inquisitive minds. We work in conjunction with the children to enable a wide and diverse range of activities. We also offer transport to all the after school clubs within Downderry (brownies, dancing, football, tag rugby etc.)
We employ 2 assistants to run the sessions, and 1 volunteer. Adults working within the provision, lead by example and good practice, so encouraging the children to develop a sense of discipline, self-motivation and respect for others. We are Ofsted/familly services registered. We also form part of St Nicolas School, Downderry extended school facility and now St Germans Primary School.
Our aims - to provide a child centred, relaxed atmosphere that feels like home with the help of trained, qualified NVQ staff.Staff qualifications include a qualified QTS/EYTS
