Tattersall, Pamela
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

I will care for your children in a family home environment. I have a small dog and do not smoke. I have a large enclosed garden, but also visit the local park and the beach. I live with my husband and 2 older sons (19 & 22), one of whom is away in New Zealand working at present. I am able to drop off the children to Shortlanesend School in Truro.

I have obtained my degree in Children's Integrated Services, as well as Paediatric First Aid, Food Safety-Early Years and Safeguarding.  I will try as far as possible to attend an additional twenty four hours of professional development each year. I have over 13 years experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in a local Primary School and the past six months as a child minder and private tutor.

I have never had to advertise as spaces have generally filled through word of mouth. I have recently registered with Ofsted in March 2018 and I am accredited, which means I can access funding for 3 and 4 year olds. Unfortunately, at present I have no vacancies.

I work term time only and usually take one week holiday in May and two weeks at Christmas. Please feel free to telephone or email for an up to date on vacancies as things are constantly changing.

Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

I have worked as a HLTA in a primary school for many years and experienced additional support in a variety of circumstances. My knowledge and experience, coupled with thorough observations highlight any areas where a child may need extra support.

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

Through careful delivery of the EYFS, using appropriate supporting documents, ongoing observations, planning appropriate activities and ultimately, getting to know the children extremly well.

Links we have to other agencies

Links to multi-agency professionals can be made by the SENCO of Acorns depending on the individual needs of the child.

How we support children transferring to school

Attending relevant school playgroups where available, attending stay and play sessions in their nursery or reception class, liaising with new class teacher, attending transition sessions, positive reinforcement of the changes ahead as well as encouraging school readiness in terms of independence and daily personal tasks.

Specialist skills or training our staff have

My safeguarding and welfare training are always up to date. I have undertaken the Level 3 multi-agency child protection training.

Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

I teach the children about various topics relating to their health and well-being. Healthy choices are reinforced daily.

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

Daily diary, daily communications at drop off / collection, sharing assessments and progress.

Our complaints policy

I have a detailed complaints policy, available to view within the Acorns office.

Alterations we have made to make our building accessible

Our house and garden is fully accessible. There is one step to the outside classroom, which can be easily altered to a ramp, if necessary.

Facilities we have for personal care

I have a downstairs bathroom that can be used for personal care.

Specialist resources we have

As children's learning and development needs and interests change, we frequently visit the toy library to keep our stock of toys refreshed and stimulating. Within reason, any specialist resources can be sourced - depending on the specific needs of the child.

How we include all children in activities, such as trips

I plan accordingly and make alterations as necessary, so that every child can be involved.
