Cornwall Council - Communication Support Service
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
This team of Specialist Speech and Language Therapists and assistants work with children with the most severe and/or complex communication needs in mainstream primary, secondary schools or ARBs.
The children they support may be non-speaking and require Alternative or Augmentative Communication (AAC). They may have severe autism, severe learning difficulties, severe dyspraxia, and these may be combined with a medical diagnosis.
The team work towards developing the functional communication skills of the children within their learning environment. They do this by providing a range of training, individual and advisory support and attendance at multi-disciplinary meetings where appropriate. The team also work alongside other relevant Cornwall Council teams where appropriate.
