Major Steps Childcare provide care for children aged from 3 months to 11 years. All our staff work as a team in order to provide a warm, inviting and friendly environment for your child.
We provide exciting activities for children to enjoy during their school holidays. We have access to the school field and forest school
Every member of staff holds a relevant qualification and attends regular training courses to ensure their knowledge is up to date.In addition, all staff must hold an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Scheme) to confirm they are suitable to work with children.

We work closely with the local; Speech and Language Therapists, Area Senco, Health Visitor, Educational Psychologist, Children’s Centre Teacher, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist. We are members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance.

Learning and development
- Specialist skills or training our staff have
All staff attend numerous training courses through each year. These include; Makaton, Behaviour Management, Safeguarding, Epi-pen, Epilepsy, Senco Network Meetings. We have recently starting attending courses run by SEN services which are targeted at subjects such as Dyslexia, ASD etc. We have several members of very experienced staff gaining their knowledge through many years of practice.
- Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being
All families are warmly welcomed into our setting and close relationships are built between staff members, children and family. We provide a consistent yet flexible environment, where children can play with appropriate support. We offer numerous activities throughout sessions to support the children’s varied individual needs.

We have an open door policy with staff available at any time to speak with parents about their child.

Major Steps Childcare is on one level with wider doorways for easy access.
- Facilities we have for personal care
We take care to ensure the children’s personal care is respected at all times. We have cubicles of low level toilets and basins for each room.
- Specialist resources we have
We have experience of using AAC devices such as Go Talk etc, for a non-verbal child. We have loaned specialist equipment such as; writing slope, walking frame, support chair. We would access any relevant equipment when identified as a need.
- How we include all children in activities, such as trips
Our activities are adapted to suit the individual needs of all children. When on trips all children would be accompanied by their key person and/or other members of staff who have knowledge of the children’s needs. We would access any resources or equipment to enable all children to participate. Detailed risk assessments are completed prior to outings to ensure correct provision can be in place.
