St Mellion C of E School Nursery
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
At St Mellion Nursery we recognise every child deserves the best possible start in life. Working in partnership with you, our aim is to support your child in building the foundations for future learning and to reach their full potential.
At St Mellion School we take children into our nursery from the age of three. We accept both funded and non funded places and ensure that we work with you to provide the care that best suits you and your child.
Both our indoor and outdoor provision allows for the children to develop a natural curiosity and gain many experiences which will both excite and ignite passion for learning, enabling them to make a strong start when they reach school age.
The nursery children mix with our reception children in the afternoons, utilising the same spaces outdoors and inside. This enables the nursery children to learn from their older peers as well as the older children becoming role models and supporting our younger nursery children.
We are passionate about developing a love of the outdoors and the children spend their mornings learning and exploring in our wonderful Outdoor Nursery.
Our Outdoor Nursery is influenced by the forest school ethos, where learning through play and hands on experiences is promoted and encouraged. It offers children time and space to develop a range of skills through different activities in a natural environment. It also helps to promote self-esteem, emotional well-being and independence.

- How we support children transferring to school
As our nursery is part of St Mellion School the children become familiar with all teaching staff and the school environment. During the summer term before our nursery children move up into the reception year they take part in a number of transition afternoons where they become familiar with their new classroom and routines. Any information in regards to their learning and development is shared with the class teacher.
For children who are attending a different school we arrange meetings with their new class teacher, where the child's learning and development needs are discussed.
