Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

All children are allocated a key person, this key person will complete regular observations which will be monitored by the senior team.

All children's progress is reviewed every 6 months from their date of birth. Any child that need's extra support from their key person will be closely monitored and then added to our SEN 6 week concern.

After observations from parents, key person and the SENCO it will then be a joint decision whether this child is placed on our SEN list.

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

Every child's communication and language skills are monitored through a programme called Every Child A Talker. 6 monthly reviews are completed and shared with parents and the senior team.

Links we have to other agencies

We have a good relationship with our Early Years Inclusion Team, Social Care workers and members of our community.

How we support children transferring to school

We have a good relationship with our local schools and continue to work with any schools further away from our nursery.

Our children are able to visit Biscovey and Tywardreath and we welcome visits from teachers too.

Lowenna our Pre-school room leader has created a fantastic range of school readiness packs and activities which are used throughout the year. We also have individual packs for the local schools to help with the transition process.

Welfare

Specialist skills or training our staff have

All staff are fully trained in Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding Level 2 and the manager holds Safeguarding Level 3.

All staff have regular meetings and keep up to date with local guidance and legislation.

A senior member of staff holds a Health & Safety certificate and all staff are trained in Food Hygiene.

The manager also holds Fire Safety.

Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

We offer healthy cooked lunches.

We will also offer support and advice for a range of well being topics.

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

Bright Eyes is part of an interactive system called Family which allows staff and parents to create an online learning Journey. This allows staff and parents to update with pictures, observations and individual next steps.

Parent/carer meetings are planned every 6 months to coincide with your child's 6 monthly progress check.

Our complaints policy

Any complaints within the nursery are investigated, recorded and responded to within 24 hours. The outcome of the complaint is then shared with the persons involved. A copy of all complaints are kept in the complaints file.

A serious complaint or accusation would be shared with OFSTED.

Access

Alterations we have made to make our building accessible

Our building is fully accessible to everyone.

Facilities we have for personal care

Our setting is equipped with low level sinks and toilets, which enables children to be completely independent with their care routines. All rooms also have a changing area/table.

Specialist resources we have

Our staff are our biggest asset in our setting. They are able to provide the children with rich and inclusive activities and opportunities.

How we include all children in activities, such as trips

To all include all children on trips we ensure that we maintain a higher adult to child ratio by utilizing our supply team and any parent helpers.
