Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

I have 22 years experience in Early years and I attend ongoing training though out the year to keep me updated.  When a child first starts I will arrange time for parent and child to stay and play and discuss, share information about routines, learning jounrneys from other setting or the health vistor etc from this I will make an entry assessment of each child . I am happy to do short session to help the child settle if this is needed.  Though observations I will highlight the child's achievements and their need for further support. I will complete 2 Year review with parents and this is shared with health vistitor when they carry out their review.

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

I recognise the needs of every child by working together with the parents and observing the children in their play. Every child's learning journey is base on their own individual interests, experiences and meet their individual need. All area of learning and development are connected.

Links we have to other agencies

Sharing information with parents I give the parents a copy of the 2 year check to take to the health Vistior.

I use the children centre for information and give parents information of sessions that may interest them.

How we support children transferring to school

Will make links with school and offer to work in partnership. Sharing information like the child's summary assessment. Organize a few visits or if they run a toddler/preschool group start attending that to help them make friends and become familiar with the surroundings. Use books and photographs to help your child understand about the new settling.  I have good links with Braddock school nursery/reception and I have the opportunity to join them on trips at the beach and Eden ice play session.

Welfare

Specialist skills or training our staff have

I have up to date mandatory training in: Paediatric First Aid, Safegurding and child protection, Food Hygiene. I attend Cluster meeting though out the year.

NVQ 3 in childcare and Education, OU level 4 in The Early Years Developing Practice, Early Language Development Programme Training, Emotion Coaching,

I have attended 2 day course learning Makaton, Learning lauguage and Loving It!,  Postitive behaviour training,

I would make sure that I have training in place to help me meet the needs of a child I care for.

Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

By ensuring their needs are met and their feeling are accepted working with parent to ensure routines of sleeps/food are kept too.                                                         Going to toddler groups, childminding meet ups, Library sing time. Giving them opportunities to make friends and social with others helps children to feel positive about themselves and others.

Children gain sence of well-being when they encoraged to take responsibilities and join in by helping with manageable tasks that interest them. Helping prepare snack, tidy up, pour own drinks, wash their own hands, hanging their coats on their pegs being involved with growing things in the garden and cooking.

I offer a good range of physical activities that will develop their fine and gross motor skills. We spend time in the fresh air on walks in the woods, along the beach and playing at the parks.

Mealtimes are relaxed, social occasion where I sit and eat with the children. Mealtimes provide opportunties to help children begin to understand why some foods are healthy and to make healtly choices.  We do cooking together to help have a healthy interest in food and diet. Also we grow fruit and vegetable and collect eggs from the hens.  This can help encourge children to try new foods and have a understanding were food comes from not just from the shops.

If your child has particular dietary needs or food allergies then these will be recorded to ensure they are not given any foods that are inappropriate. I am able to cope with a special diet if parents work in co-operation with me and make it absolutely clear what is required.

There is water on offer at all times. Jug and cups on the side for the older children to help themselves and beakers of water for the yonger children on the side where they can help themselves.

My settling is risked assessed and also when going somewhere new I would check it out first before taking the children. When out and about we talk about keeping safe and crossing the road safety.

I will not care for children who are contagious or who have suffered sickness and diarrhoea in the past 48 hours.  If a child becomes poorly whilst in my care. I will make sure they are comforable and ring you to come and collect them. Their condition will be monitored and will be informed of any changes when you arrive.

You will be asked to give me written permission to seek emergency medical treatment or advice before your child commences with me.

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

I have daily diaries that is filled in about the childs day intake of food/milk sleep routineand the days activities what they enjoyed or not about the activities ideas of thing to do at home. Words of songs we are singing. This can be done by a book which goes between us or I use Whatsapp. I have learning journeys with next step and photos with opportunties for parents to contribute.

Our complaints policy

I have a complaint policy which all parents when they start will have a copy of and sign to say they have received it.
