Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

Observation and assessment cycle, open communication with parents/careers, working with other agencies.

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

Ongoing observation, assessment and planning cycle.

Links we have to other agencies

We work closely with the local area SENDco and the early years inclusion team including educational psychologists, occupational therapists and the SALT team. We have also worked with Scope, school nurses, health visitor and any other agencies.

How we support children transferring to school

We have very close links with the local school and would share information (with parental consent) and work closely with the school's SENDco and teachers to ensure a smooth transition.

Welfare

Specialist skills or training our staff have

SENDco initial training and regular network meetings, Makaton training, behaviour management training, visual support training, sensory training.

Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

We follow the Nipper's Nutrition programme to provide healthy snacks. We support children to learn to use the toilet independently and teach good hygiene skills.

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

Informal conversations on a daily basis as well as more formal consultations on a regular basis.

Our complaints policy

We hope that any concerns or complaints would be resolved by talking to a member of staff, if not we follow the complaints procedure as set out by Ofsted.

Access

Alterations we have made to make our building accessible

The preschool building is accessible via ramps to both entrances.

Facilities we have for personal care

We have child sized toilets and hand washing basins and provide a private area for changing.

Specialist resources we have

We source additional equipment as required/appropriate.

How we include all children in activities, such as trips

We ensure a good staff to child ratio and include parents as necessary. A risk assessment is carried out before all trips.
