I live in a large house with separate playroom and use our outside space throughout the day with a very child led approach in my setting.
We have a large outdoor garden and decking space with many toys & bikes to promote a healthy, active lifestyle. Large trampoline sunk into back lawn and playhouse with slide.
2 child-friendly dogs, house rabbit, 2 guinea pigs and fish make up our family as well as my partner and 12 year old daughter.
Do many structured activities with the children as well as free-play. Take them to soft play, library outings, the park and other local walks to the woods etc. I often go on trips to the beach, heligan, Eden and the zoo.
I have been a childminder for 20 years and am a qualified first aider, fully insured. I was a nanny for many years before becoming a childminder. I am also a level 4 accredited with the council run programme Healthy Under 5s

I would gather information from parents and from observations of the child. I implement a two year check and make assessments through out each term. I provide 2 and 3 year funded places.

I have done makaton training and use Makaton symbols and pictures in my setting, but would do further training if needed to meet the needs of a child. I have done positive behaviour training and communication training. I have attended sensory training and workshops.

I offer a safe well risk assessed setting, that caters for all children with lots of space. My safequarding and first aid is up to date and constantly updated.

Parents have a daily diary to use. Children and parents can take their learning journeys home any weekend they would like to add to or just look at. I am available to parents to chat or arrange a time to chat when ever suits. I give out questionnaires. Parents and I discuss targets verbally with each other. I hope to gain a close relationship with all parents with a respect for each others confidentiality and work.

All self-care routines are promoted such as hand washing after toileting. Nappy changing facilities in the bathroom to promote privacy. Help is offered where needed and equipment can be obtained where necessary.

The children and I talk about any trips we will be going on and use photos and books to give them information. I risk assess the outing and use buggies, reins and wheelchairs where needed so that all children can be included and they will all benefit from the experience.
