Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

YMWA is an award winning project aimed at young mothers aged between 14-23 years old. Each of the crèches meet once a week term time only as an outreach multi-agency partnership between Fit 'N' Fun Kids, Cornwall Council and Cornwall College.

Fit 'N' Fun Kids provides YMWA with on site crèches to support young mums to access learning in their community whilst our staff attend on site to provide quality childcare and parental support.

At this setting we follow the EYFS with a balance of adult and child initiated activities. The children are provided with a large range of sensory activities and resources, along with physical play both inside and out, and continuous provisions.

Our team are dedicated, warm and approachable and are passionate in their approach to provide a nurturing, educational, stimulating and warm environment for all children.

Through regular observations undertaken by dedicated key workers, and through additional support of our Early Years Teacher, we will ensure we meet the needs of your child/children in order for them to hit their appropriate age related milestones.

Parents participate this year in a child learning and development programme, paediatric first aid and five to thrive.  Guest speakers will also be attending to provide advice and guidance on a variety of subjects.

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

All our settings have a named SENCO and Designated Safeguarding Officer and additionally supported by an Early Years Teacher, and other members of the Senior Management Team. 
We work closely with our parents in settling our children into the setting and gathering information about their child.  A baseline assessment is undertaken within the first six weeks of the child settling with us.  This baseline assessment indicates the stage of development the child is currently at and with regular observations, we will track the child's progress to ensure they are meeting their developmental milestones and at which time, we will be alerted to any additional supported needed.
We have strong relationships with external agencies where we can access further support if required and also ensure our staff attend regular training in all areas of child development to support needs.

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

All our teams support the individual needs of our children.  This is undertaken by a key person who is assigned to each child to observe and track their progress.  We follow the EYFS and Characteristics of Learning and record this in each child’s individual Learning Journey.  Photographs are taken and added to the Learning Journey that capture the exciting and important moment of each child’s development.  We work with an ethos of right here right now which means that although we undertake planning monthly, we can adapt this for each individual child, each session, based on what is happening right now in that child’s life and/or what is happening in the world around them.  Such planning is put together knowing what each child’s next step is and adapted each session to support and develop each child’s individual needs. 
If necessary this also ensures that we access internal and external support from professionals to meet additional needs, all of which is undertaken with parental consent.

How we support children transferring to school

Young Mums Will Achieve project supports young mothers who are expectant or with children under pre-school age.  We do however, work in partnership with any other provider involved in our child's learning and well-being.

Welfare

Specialist skills or training our staff have

At Fit N Fun Kids, training and continued professional development is key to ensuring our staff are kept up to date with childcare knowledge.  This includes internal and external training, bespoke to our setting around leadership and management and child related practice. 



We work closely with high quality settings around the UK to ensure we share best practice and also work with a Childcare Professional to ensure our training, particularly around safeguarding, parental engagement and staff development is of high quality.


All our Creche Managers have Level 3 Multi-agency Child Protection Training with all staff undertaking regular Child Protection Training.  All Staff hold Paediatric First Aid.  All staff who handle food have Food Hygiene.   


All our team have been trained in Five to Thrive and leaders have been trained in Thrive.

Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

At most of our provisions we have a good access to outside areas and in some areas an indoor soft play room.  We invite in other professional to delivery Zumba, Yoga and other related activities and when possible we make use of our community through accessing local provisions/services.  This term in some YMWA Creches, where possible we have included parent and child swimming as an activity.  
Health and Nutrition is key to providing quality childcare and we are proud of our Level 4 Nippers Nutrition accreditation and Level 5 Food Hygiene.  We have a qualified Chef who designs our termly menus, all of which can be adapted to meet individual dietary and cultural requirements.
All our food is sourced locally and prepared fresh each morning however YMWA Creches only provide snack as  parents provide lunch and eat with their children on site.

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

Parents play a key role in their child development and we ensure we are inclusive in sharing each child’s progression both in the home and at the setting.  We do this by forming strong, open relationships with parents from home visits, the settling in sessions we provide, evaluating the impact of those settling in session and further follow ups in the first few weeks to ensure parents feel they have been included and consulted and had their questions answered during this important time. 
Continued support is offered by sharing their child’s learning journey and milestones with them daily.
Parent consultation takes place throughout the day with a specified parent child interactive session managed by our team. We celebrate the childrens milestones with the parents and at the end of every year hold a large Celebration with the parents and children of all groups.
We have an open door policy and always ensure we are available to meet with parents as and when required.  This includes a super-numerary Manager who is available to meet with parents upon request.  This Manager works very closely with the parents and our strategic partners from initial referral, home visit, weekly support, TAC attendance, visits to the setting and more dependent on need.  

Our complaints policy

Customer Service is key to strong relationships with our families and we take any complaint very seriously. This includes always ensuring we fully investigate any complaint and liaise with parents in line with our policies and procedures but more so to reduce the stress of the parents that may have a concern or complaint. We aim to ensure we satisfy any parent bringing a complaint to us.

Access

Alterations we have made to make our building accessible

Our setting is designed to be inclusive and fully accessible. This includes our transportation services to ensure there are now barriers to families accessing our provision.  This service is provided in a local authority children centre.

How we include all children in activities, such as trips

As an inclusive setting, we have been innovative in our design to ensure that there are no barriers to any children and their families accessing our services. We also invite and encourage families to join us on any of our outings.
