Cornwall School for Social Enterprise (SSE) CIC

Cornwall School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) innovative, inspirational and bespoke Satellite Programme offers an opportunity for young people to ignite their entrepreneurial thinking – to consider being their own boss, develop a hobby and turn it into a business, do something in their community, and feel they've achieved something.

Starting with the Phoenix Project run by Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, this 5 day programme offers challenges to solve problems, work as part of a team, learn to keep safe, test fitness levels and boost self-confidence, and leading to a level 1 ASDAN qualification. The ‘Great Day Out’ at Eden then builds on skills and learning so far, to broaden thinking about their place in the world and raise aspirations about future potential.

This is followed by 11 weeks (1 day per week) with Cornwall SSE using the ‘learning by doing’ approach to delivery to explore future possibilities.  This will include:

  • Hearing from successful social entrepreneurs
  • Visiting local innovative social enterprises
  • Working on how to get a group project going
  • Exploring progressing to further learning, volunteering and work
  • Planning an event to celebrate their success

Eligibility:  NEET (not in education, employment or training) or at risk of.
