Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

We continually observe and monitor the children's progress using a range of tools such as the Early Years Outcomes and the Every Child A Talker sheet. Each term we share the child's learning journey with the parent/carer, and share any concerns we may have.

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

If we have any concerns we will discuss with the parents how we would all be able to support the child with their progress and if necessary we will refer to outside agencies for additional support.

Links we have to other agencies

We work closely with the Childrens Centre Teachers, S & L Therapists, Health Visitors, Social Care, our Local Area Inclusion Team as well as other schools and settings in our area.

How we support children transferring to school

We liaise with the relevant schools and offer the teachers an opportunity to visit the setting to meet the children. We believe this gives the teachers a true picture of the child as they are in a setting in which they feel comfortable.

We take pictures of the schools and obtain a sweatshirt from each one to share and talk about with the children.

Specialist skills or training our staff have

Our SENCO will have attended the 2 day training course and attend regular cluster meetings.

Some of the team have attended Letters & Sounds, Visuals, and basic makaton training.

All of our staff are first aid and food safety trained.

Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

We offer a stimulating, safe and caring environment which enable the children to thrive.

We offer a home cooked nutritious lunch followed by fresh fruit and healthy snack mid-afternoon.

We offer lots of opportunties for physical play, preferably outside.

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

With regular communication and support. We offer a daily diary for the younger children as well as verbal feedback for all parents.

We regularly share achievements with the parents and we share their child's learning journey with them termly.

Our complaints policy

Any complaint made to the nursery is recorded and investigated. We will then share our findings with whoever made the complaint and record the outcomes/actions. Aserious complaint would be shared with Ofsted.

Alterations we have made to make our building accessible

The building as all on the ground floor with easy access.

Facilities we have for personal care

We have 2 washrooms which are easily accessible to the children to promote independance as well as a larger toilet suitable for users with restricted mobility.

We have a nappy changing station within the under 2's area.

Specialist resources we have

Visuals and multicultural resources in all areas. We would always source additional specialist resources/equipment if required.

Our best resource is our fabulous staff!

How we include all children in activities, such as trips

We increase staff ratios as necessary and all steps are taken to ensure inclusion.
