Pixieland Saltash - Holiday Scheme
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Pixieland Saltash opened in 2006. It operates from four buildings in purpose-built premises. We have an under 2's block which broken down into a baby room and little Todds room. Baby room caters for children from birth to 16 months. Little Todds from 16 months to 24 months. Our toddler room is from 2 years - 3 years and our pre-school room is from 3 years until they start school. All children have access to two enclosed outdoor play areas. One of which is a sensory garden that leads on to a nature trail. Our sensory garden has a sandpit, an area where children are encouraged to plant and care for vegetables and a mud kitchen where children are provided utensils to enhance there imagination and use our sensory plants to pick and use. Our nature trail currently has a fairy garden which the children have enjoyed making homes for. We have a bug hotel to encourage the children to look for bugs and discuss what they have found. We also have little benches where we will have story times and out door snack. Our other outdoor space is a bigger space to ride bikes, scooters play ball games, tackle obstacle courses, weigh and measure objects and a big table for outdoor creative activities as well as garden parties and snack times. We also have a sensory room which contains a signing wall, an interactive touch wall, a light tunnel and colourful fish bubble tube. We have a purpose built ball pool and soft play area. The nursery is in a central position in Saltash. Children aged up to 11 years 0 months may attend. We are able to claim funding for eligible two, three and four year olds. The nursery is open from 7am to 6pm. We close for bank holidays and 1 week at Christmas. We support children with special educational needs and children who have English as an additional language

Early Years Local Offer response
- Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support
Key persons will identify any children that may need additional support by working alongside the early years foundation stage, if key persons has any concerns they would discuss them with nursery senco. Nursery senco will complete several observations in the area of concern then introduce action plan/IEPs. The senco will discuss with parents/Careers the concerns and make referrals if needed.
- How we identify and support children's learning and development needs
By making regular observations and having a key person system in place staff are able to identify a child’s need. We do summative assessments every 3 months and from this we are able to track the child’s development.
- Links we have to other agencies
We work with Health visitors, area senco, early year’s advisory team, speech therapists and seek other professionals as needed.
- How we support children transferring to school
We regular discuss the school transition period, hold dress up days so the children are able to show their new school uniforms, invite teachers of the schools the children are moving to visit the setting, and produce transfer documents for each school that the parent have read and signed. this is the parent opportunity to put down any concerns they have about their child attending school.
Learning and development
- Specialist skills or training our staff have
Staff have makaton training, safeguarding awareness, behaviour training, supporting children with English as an additional language, all have paediatric first aid.
- Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being
We discuss any concerns we may have with parents if safe to do so, note any changes that may seem significant, ensure children’s needs are being met, provide safe outdoor areas. We have taken part in the Nippers Nutrition Programme to ensure our food is as healthy as possible.
- Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported
The parents are given daily feedback about the childrens day on what the children have been up to and any significant achievements. We also have online learning journeys through EYlog. This is where we can regularly keep parents updated with observations and pictures. by having the EYlog parents are able to keep updated about their childrens development and also gives parents the chance to have an input by sending observations themselves and commenting on the observations that have been submitted by staff members.
- Our complaints policy
Parents are aware of the complaints policy. If anyone does have concerns they can contact office and discuss witht them. Parents are invited to meets to discuss any areas of complaint, then management will investigate complaint. Appropriate action will be taken if necessary, any information passed on to relevant agencies.
