Daisy Fays Nursery And Tresillian Preschool
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

With views across the beautiful Tresillian countryside, Daisy Fays is a purpose-built nursery registered for up to 33 children per day between the ages of 3months and 5 years.

Our nursery employs up to 10 members of staff. We have practitioners who are level 3 apprentices right up to Qualified Early Years Teachers. Staff are DBS checked, Paediatric First Aid trained and hold a minimum of Level 2 in Safeguarding. Our team are committed to facilitating children’s individual styles of learning and encourage resilience, confidence and curiosity.

Our baby room offers a calm environment for the babies to be able to explore different activities linked to the 7 areas of learning, The keyworkers within the baby room work alongside the parents to be able to meet the children’s routines as they would be at home.  Our baby room leader has an extensive knowledge of the learning and development of babies as she has been in the early years sector for over 20 years .  We offer free flow play to the babies, so they can get a varied experience throughout the day and an additional room for babies to sleep.

In our Toddler room we build our independence by promoting our self-care needs, exploring through messy and creative play linked to our weekly topics. We ensure a smooth transition to preschool by doing transition sessions on the lead up to the children turning 3. The activities that we implement are specific to the needs of each individual child, this enables us to ensure each child is progressing at the right levels for their age.

We are very lucky to have a qualified teacher to run our preschool room; this ensures the children are school ready and are progressing well in the lead up to school. We do fortnightly topics that link to the 7 areas of learning and also offer a child centred approach. We will be offering outdoor learning in preparation for our forest school coming In spring 2024.

The children enjoy spending time in our sensory room, and this supports their learning and development through their senses. We are very lucky to have three separate rooms for the children to progress and transition into when moving to each room to meet their milestones.  We have a friendly, approachable and caring team here at Tresillian, who have different strengths to support the children and their team members to create a happy and welcoming environment

We promote a healthy lifestyle and provide daily healthy snacks and fresh hot lunches, which are prepared daily by our chef. We accommodate all dietary requirements and allergies. We ensure healthy eating is promoted throughout the setting.

Every day is a new opportunity for learning and growing, not only for the children but also the adults!

Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

We believe early identification is essential to support the child and their family.  The staff at Daisy Fays will monitor each child's progress with regular reports and assessments allowing time to identify any areas of concern.  Staff will refer any concerns to the SENCO who will liaise with parents and other agencies to ensure the child is fully supported.

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

We identify and support children's learning and development through regular monitoring and assessment and by having conversations with parents and other professionals that we know could help the child.

Links we have to other agencies

We have strong links with other agencies and will quickly implement a support package to suit each child and their individual needs.

How we support children transferring to school

We liaise with the school and other agencies to ensure a smooth transition for the child and their family. We will hold meetings with the school staff, parents and key worker to provide a thorough transition to support children with this transition.

Welfare

Specialist skills or training our staff have

Our staff have a range of specialist skills including Speech and Language qualifications, Makaton training and behaviour management.

Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

We encourage healthy eating, emotional well being and self confidence through forming strong bonds with the children and their families.

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

Regular meetings and an open door policy. We have an online App which allows communication efficiently as well as sharing of daily activities.

Our complaints policy

A complaints policy is in place and followed. Every complaint is treated fairly and with respect for both parties. complaints are taken to the correct person and dealt with promptly and confidentially. They are handled sensitively and professionally. The Manager deals with any complaints in the first instance and seeks advice from the Head Office Management team if needed.

Access

Alterations we have made to make our building accessible

The nursery is a purpose built new build and is fully accessible.

Facilities we have for personal care

We have discreet changing areas and through regular training, staff are aware of the procedures involved in attending to a child's personal care.

Specialist resources we have

We have a sensory room with lots of resources that cater for sensory needs, quiet areas both inside and outside and staff who are trained to cater for specialist needs. We would also be taking advice from specialist with regards to resources to support children.

How we include all children in activities, such as trips

We ensure there are rigorous risk assessments in place and enough staff/parents/helpers to ensure the children's safety at all times.
