Spectrum Holidays
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

We are a family run business specialising in providing autism-friendly holiday accommodation around the UK. We started our company after many years of trying to find suitable holiday accommodation for our own son who is autistic. We have a selection of Cottages, Caravans and Lodges available to view and book on our website. We help support families with their holiday preparation through the use of visual resources and social stories.

How we make our service inclusive

As well as having our own Sensory Caravan In Northumberland we also work with other holiday home owners around the UK to help make their properties more accessible to families with dependants on the autism spectrum.

We supply our holiday homes with a "spectrum pack" which contains a selection of sensory toys and equipment. This can be used as a stand alone resource or doubled with the blackout blind that we also provide to create a dark den. We also supply a set of visuals to use with a "now, next, later lanyard as well as PECS visuals as part of the pack. We support families with support in their holiday preparation by creating a personalised visual countdown and a social story for each property.

Staff SEND experience

I have worked in a special school as a support assistant as well as caring for my nephews who both have ASD. My own son was diagnosed with autism 5 years ago so I feel we have a good understanding of some of the needs that our families have and the worries and anxieties they have about attempting holidays with their children and our aim are to help make the process as easy as possible.

Resolving disagreements, mediation and making complaints
