The Chalk Effect Climbing Project
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

The Chalk project is a physical-mental and social exercise. Inclusive and diverse. Chalk uses an indoor climbing centre in Penryn, Falmouth to instruct indoor rock climbing, Bouldering and Top rope climbing, I  instruct the health and safety aspects of safe use of the equipment we use and wear, I will instruct the the safety knots we use and instruct on how to use a belay device.

Along side this we will talk honestly and openly about of worries and fears that come from self in our daily lives, sharing with each other safely gaining in confidence physically, mentally and socially as we go.

It is a self learning and energetic activity for any one, any age, any gender, any size, you do NOT have to be strong to be able to climb, just WILLINGNESS.

How we make our service inclusive

The climbing centre is a safe open place to freely move around safely

Staff SEND experience

Being a recovered alcoholic and poor mental health , a father of 3, i have lots of skills and solutions for the daily struggles of life and how together we can understand them, challenge them and go through them, and being a climber of 25 years and a fully qualified climbing instructor.

We can climb and get well at the same time

How our service supports providers / schools / colleges

Working with individuals one on one or as group sessions.

Support at key transition points

Climbing can be a great family exercise and sport, i started off with my family all those years back and it was the best time of my younger life and spending time with family is always a good thing to do. Climbing is great at any age, physically-mentally and socially, the energy and thrill when we are the top of a climb is like nothing else and any one can achieve it.

Climbing is a really good family activity

Other local or national support

As part of the social prescribing group, we can look at other groups that the client might feel would benefit them

Chalk networks other projects

Resolving disagreements, mediation and making complaints

I have a really good relationship with he climbing centre, any complaints and queries through my project will come straight to me and dealt with accordingly.

Chalk is always improving and learning, any feed back good or bad will be taken on board to grow and adapt
