Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

Parent/carer to complete child information forms prior to their child attending alongside new starter meetings. Staff complete Observation sheets, Tracking sheets (each half term), Next step sheets. Each child has a Key Persons.

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

Through observations, next step sheets and discussions between key persons and parents/carers. Working with our Local Education Health and Social Care Coordinator for advice and guidance.

Links we have to other agencies

At St Teath Preschool we work with the Speech and Language Team, Children's Centre, Educational Health and social Care Coordinator, Early Years Inclusion Team, Locality Senco and healthy under 5's team.

How we support children transferring to school

We liaise with the local primary school and the reception class teacher. We organise transition days for the group moving up to school to help with settling in and getting to know their new teachers. We also provide the reception teacher with 'moving on' sheets which provide details of the current development stage and likes/dislikes of each child. The reception teacher also visits the Preschool to introduce herself to the transition children. The school use the same online learning platform ‘Tapestry’ so children’s learning journals are transferred and continued at school. We will liaise with alternative schools and pass on any relevant information/ accommodate meetings at the setting.
