Frew, Mrs Gail Charmain
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

I have been a childminder since November 2003.
I live in a lovely safe home environment with a safe enclosed rear garden, within easy walking distance of the town centre. I attend weekly meets/play sessions with fellow childminders and enjoy outings to the beach, parks, woods, shops and library etc with the children. The school's I currently cover are St Petrocs & St Marys.
I am a member of PACEY and have attended many courses. If you would like any further information please feel free to give me a call.

I am able to offer funded places for 2,3 & 4 year olds.

I also have 1 small pet Dog named Dash.

Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

We work with parents to identify gaps in children's learning or any delays I am concerned about. I refer children to speech and language and the lead SENCO in my area.

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

We do this by observing children during activity and play. We share daily diaries and observations with parents. We also complete (where appropriate) a 2 year progress check to highlight any problems or concerns.

Links we have to other agencies

We share 2 year progress check with health visitors. We also attend local SENCO network meetings and have SENCO contact details for advice and information.

How we support children transferring to school

Through daily routine younger children accompany us on the school runs giving them an insight into what to expect.

We encourage independence with toileting, handwashing, getting changed and putting their coats and shoes on as well as encouraging their confidence in asking adults for help if they need it.

Welfare

Specialist skills or training our staff have

All mandatory training is up to date. We also attend cluster meetings and training courses, meeting with other childminders to help and support each other.

Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

We offer a warm safe environment where children feel happy and content. Having attended the eating well for under 5's training we encourage healthy eating and promote regular handwashing. It is also very important that the children get plenty of fresh air and exercise.

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

We keep parents informed by means of face to face chats at pick up and drop off, daily diary, text and WhatsApp messages

Our complaints policy

We display our Ofsted parent’s poster in the hallway.

We ask parents to put any complaints in writing as soon as possible which we will then look into. We will give parents a reply within a week and would inform Ofsted.

Access

Alterations we have made to make our building accessible

None

Facilities we have for personal care

Our only bathroom is on the first floor. We provide steps for toileting and hand washing also potties and changing mats for the younger children which are cleaned as and when necessary.

Specialist resources we have

We have a range of multi-cultural books and toys including positive examples of people of all ages and abilities.

We have various musical instruments and an assortment of sensory toys available.

We provide a low level table along with various play mats.

How we include all children in activities, such as trips

We ensure when going out on trips and activities that there is something suitable for all ages and abilities and each child is supported as required.

Before undertaking any activity such as trips a full risk assessment is carried out.
