Nursery provision for 3/4 year olds within the school setting.

We have 2 sessions        

  • morning: 9.00am - 12 noon (3 hours)
  • afternoon:12 noon - 3.00pm (3 hours)

There is also the facility to pay for an extra hours lunch supervision from 12-1pm and children can bring a packed lunch or choose a school meal.

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

Upon joining the school parents are required to fill in an ‘All About Me’ leaflet. These allow parents to voice any concerns and give us a range of information about the child, their abilities and their preferred learning styles. We also hold a transition meeting where parents and teachers can discuss any arising matters. EYFS tracking is used throughout EYFS and all evidence is kept in the form of a Learning Journey. Whole cohort tracking is also kept to show progress. Observations of the children are made on a daily basis using a programme called 2Simple. From these observations next steps are made and then planned for. Assessments are made termly and parents are able to look at these and comment.

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

Within EYFS small group and individual intervention is used with targeted children to support progression throughout the EYFS curriculum

Currently within the EYFS we are not working with other agencies, but can if the support is needed.

How we support children transferring to school

Our Early Years provision is currently that of a 1 day a week nursery and a full time reception class. The children that attend the nursery session then join the school in the September. Therefore transition activities take place all year around, as children are already working in their new school setting. Transition meetings are still held however with parents in the summer term.


Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

PSED is promoted within the setting using a range of strategies, e.g reward systems, emotion stories etc. All staff are level 2 safeguarding trained, with two members of staff obtaining a level 3 qualification. The designated person is the Head Teacher, with the Deputy being the EYFS teacher. Risk assessments are carried out on a regular basis in all areas of learning. Within the classroom children have access to a quiet area in the form of a book corner and a buddy station in the playground. As a school we have an open door policy where parents can come in and share information that they deem appropriate for the school to be aware of.

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

Parent’s evenings are held once a term and a report is given at the end of each year. Parents have the opportunity on a weekly basis to look at their child’s learning journey and they can use WOW moment cards to help feed into them. Parents sign a home school agreement when joining the school. Documentation is readily available for parents to access and a newsletter is sent to them once a week. Target setting and planning and review meetings are discussed with the parent’s evenings. The school website is regularly updated with news and information.

Alterations we have made to make our building accessible

All doors within the school are wide doorframes that can accommodate a wheelchair or walking frame. There is ramp access to the school and an accessible toilet. All areas are labelled to visually support and to notify of any danger. The outside area is accessible to all.

Facilities we have for personal care

All staff are DBS checked at our setting. We have used visual sequencing strips to support children with washing their hands and toileting routines. We have a strong Key Person system in place with two fully qualified members of staff taking the lead.

How we include all children in activities, such as trips

All children are included in every aspect of school life. Parents are often invited to attend and support us with trips and all risks are assess prior to an outing by a member of staff. Social stories are used with any child that requires it and photographs are shown so children are aware of the area. Travel arrangements are set according to the needs of all children and all adults are aware of any extra support that may be needed
