Employability at Truro and Penwith College
Employability for 16-19-year-olds
We welcome learners who, for whatever reason, may not have previously been academically successful. We offer a chance to have a fresh start in an outstanding college.
We’ll equip you with the confidence and the skill set that you need to succeed in an industry that suits you, and provide you with work placements to gain valuable experience.
Gain experience
When you join us, you’ll be given your own job coach – a member of our employability team dedicated to helping you learn, develop and gain employment. We’ll look at your skills and qualities and find you a work-based learning placement in an area of your choice, while your job coach will support you with anything you need. You can try placements in multiple industries if you’re unsure which career path you’d like to follow, and each placement enhances your CV with valuable experience and employer references.
Apprenticeships and Traineeships
There are also opportunities to progress into full-time employment or an Apprenticeship with your work placement, or you can enroll in the new Traineeship scheme. As a trainee, you’ll study with us to gain the general employability and industry-specific qualifications required to succeed in your chosen job. We’ll also help you to write and optimise your CV and work on you interview techniques.
