Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

Parents complete a section on the application form relating to development milestones, speech and language, behaviour and any other points they feel are relevant, stay and plays are encouraged to meet the child's needs (may be 1 or 6) parents chat with key person and share information about their child. The starting pack has an All about me sheet that allows parents the opportunity to celebrate their child's abilities and quirks, and share valuable information. We have an open door policy and give regular feedback to parents on collection and drop off.

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

Using EYFS phases of development, observations and info from parents.

We follow the SEN code of practice Graduated response.

Advice and input from professionals.

Staff training.

Visual support is used as part of the daily routine.

Makaton is used throughout the sessions and we have a staff member who has attended two day training course.

Links we have to other agencies

We work with any professional involved in a child's care to provide an environment for them to develop and learn.

How we support children transferring to school

We work with schools that children will attend inviting their teachers into the setting, and the child's key person visiting the new school with the family, we make a picture using photos from the visit for the family to look at over the summer break. Communication passports are made for some children.

Welfare

Specialist skills or training our staff have

Staff attend SENCO training, Behaviour management, Makaton, Safe guarding, Visual supports, Autism and attachment through professional development. Staff have attended Epipen training and Diabetes, and have experience with Global developmental delay and support speech and language. We have worked with Autistic children supporting obtaining statements. we have experience of PECS, and TACPAC.

Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

We have a Health visitor for the setting who is also a trustee and works with us to plan a healthy environment, we are part of CCC Healthy under 5's

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

Twice yearly appointments are made for parents to come in and share develpoment, we have an open door policy and encourage parents to add to learning journeys which are free to access at any time. We share next steps with parents along with resources and  activities that can be shared with home to support the link.

Our complaints policy

We have complaints slips available for parents to access, we prefer to meet face to face if a parents feels there is a problem and hope to resolve this for them.

Access

Alterations we have made to make our building accessible

Disabled access, toilet area, wide doors, accessible outdoor area, discreet changing area and potty area. We use visual strips to support development.

Facilities we have for personal care

Staff are all DBS checked, children are encouraged to remember that going to the toilet is private with low doors that shield the child but allow staff to look over if necessary, the potty and changing area allows privacy for those using it but safe access for staff who can be seen by other team members.

We have a private area for breast feeding if needed.

Specialist resources we have

We would source any additional equipment if it was required.

How we include all children in activities, such as trips

Accessible transport is used, if this does not suit a child or family member they are welcome to use own transport and meet us there. we encourage families to participate in trips and risk assess generally and specifically. We show pictures of the trip environment to prepare for the change.

Children who are unable to attend are provided with a similar experience within the setting.
