We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Children are taught through play in the seven learning & development areas. These are; Personal Social & Emotional Development, Physical Development, Communication & Language, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Art & Design.
We have a main play room, a hush room for small group work and quiet activities.
We also have an extensive outside space which includes a large sand pit, willow tunnel, wooden pirate ship, bug hotel, designated growing area, pond, mud kitchen and African Hut for stories and role-play.

- Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support
All children have an entry baseline assessment with on going regular observations and assessments throughout their time with us. Two year olds will also have a separate assessment when they join us. These are linked to the EYFS development stages. Each child has a key worker allocated to them who will record the information in their learning journey book.
We have built good relationships with our parents/carers to ensure that communication and information sharing takes place.
- How we identify and support children's learning and development needs
Through regular observations by the child's key worker they can identify if the child has any delay or difficulties in any of the seven developmental areas. The pre-school offers regular feedback to parents/carers on how their child is progressing and if they may need extra support in certain areas. We hold termly parents/carer meetings to discuss any concerns or issues with the child's keyworker. Our pre-school has an open door policy so that if any parents/carers need to speak to any member of staff we will ensure this happens immediately. Cohorts are done termly to identify if any specific groups of children need extra consideration.
Key workers work closely with the SENCO to put provision in place to help support the child and to ensure inclusive practice.

We have links to: Senior Locality SENCO- Locality 2, Early Years Inclusion Team, Speech & Language Therapists, Educational Psychologist, Physiotherapists, Family Support Workers, Health Visitor and the Portage Services.
- How we support children transferring to school
We have a Transition policy in place. We have a dedicated member of staff who is responsible for arranging Transition meetings. We also invite teachers to our setting to meet the children. We attend Transition TAC meetings alongside parents and other professionals for those children that require the support. We have resources in pre-school for the children who may need extra support transitioning on to school.

All staff are Paediatric First aid trained and have Safeguarding training to the correct level for their responsibility. We have two Group 3 Designated Safeguarding Officers. Two members of staff have had SENCO training.

We Complete two year checks, promote healthy eating and lifestyle through our policies.

Daily informal chats, as well as termly parent/carer meetings. Parents/Carers will be informed if we have any concerns about their child's learning or development immediately.

We have a sloped ramp to access the building through sliding doors to the rear and steps to the front.

We have specialist resources to help support the individual child's needs and requirements. These include; wobble cushions, fiddle toys, weighted items, sensory equipment, timers and visual aids.
