Holiday Activity Days
Action for Children Cornwall SPACE is a Cornwall Council funded service providing Holiday Activities for disabled children and young people aged between 5 - 18. We offer children and young people, with a learning disability exciting new activities to try and offer families an all important short break. Our short break activities run across the whole county in the Easter and summer holidays and also some half terms.
Referral Criteria
Our short breaks are for children and young people, with a Learning disability, aged 5 - their 18th birthday. We also offer youth groups for disabled young people aged 14 - 25. Please see our youth group pages.
Fun and Inclusive
Activities are Fun and Inclusive, with support from trained staff so that disabled children and young people can take part and achieve, feel empowered and increase confidence. Disabled children and young people have the opportunity to meet new people and make friends while trying out new things and exciting activities, in a safe environment.
How to make a referral
We have a simple and quick referral process that can be made by families, disabled young people or professionals.
1. Fill in the referral form and send it the address below or email it to the project.
2. A Support Worker will contact you to talk to you about the Activity days we offer, if the activities would be suitable and to arrange a home visit, if appropriate.
3. Receive a list of Holiday Activity Days, it’s easy to book a place, just call us or email.

Inclusion details
- How we make our service inclusive
Cornwall SPACE activity days offer short break activities exclusively to disabled children and young people aged 5 - 18 years old. The staff team have undertaken specialist training, all venues are accesible and we have 4 spaces for children and young people who require additional 1-2-1 support.
- Staff SEND experience
Staff all hold the following training qualifications:
Epilepsy training, Makaton levels 1 - 4, First Aid for Childcarers (Red Cross), lifting and moving people, Intensive Interaction, Safeguarding children and young people with Autism, Safeguarding children, Risk management and practical risk assessment training.

We offer short break activities for children and young people while ofering parents that all important short break. We also offer 3 x youth groups across Cornwall (Bodmin, St Blazey & Hayle), offering advice and guidence as well as more age appropriate activities.

- Resolving disagreements, mediation and making complaints
We would always ask for comments about our service to be discussed with the team in the first instance. If this is not appropriate we have our Tell Us complaints process, we have a leaflet that is always available at activities or by request. As we are a Cornwall Council contracted service, complaints can also be made to the council.
