What to expect whilst attending Peapods Daycare...
I will do all that I can to ensure your child is happy, safe, loved and nurtured whilst in my care. In addition, I have the pleasure of supporting your Child's development and learning throughout the first years of their life. One of the most important parts of each day will be to ensure I provide a rich environment with ample opportunities for learning and gaining new skills.

- Notes
We have adapted our conservatory into our very own playroom. The playroom offers ample natural light, a range of resources to aid your child's development and doors connecting to your back garden where we offer free flow. In our back garden we have a large mud kitchen, an outdoor maths area and a range of natural resources.
We also have 2 dogs. The children will be given opportunities to join in with the animal care routines, learning how to look after them and learning about what the animals need to survive.
We also have a lovely grass area in the back garden with a pond. The children enjoy feeding the fish and watching them. We use the grass area for group activities, physical play, sand play, slide, tunnels etc!

Early Years Local Offer response
- Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support
I will be working closely with all the children in my care. I will observe children on a regular basis and will be working in partnership with parents. I will be recording their progress on paperwork from Twinkl which will support my knowledge of the child's development and could help identify possible need of additional support.
- How we identify and support children's learning and development needs
I will be planning activities based on children's personal interests to ensure they are being provided good quality activities that interest them.
I create a Whatsapp group for each child In my care, I use this group for communication regarding the child's day but also their achievements and their development. I also like to work in partnership with the parents and encourage them to add to our whatsapp group to see how their child is achieving at home in addition to in my setting. I will also be working in partnership with any other setting that the child may attend.
- Links we have to other agencies
I will link with any agency that can provide any additional support for the children in my care and their parents too.
- How we support children transferring to school
Any child transferring to school i will be working in partnership with any other setting the child may attend, I will also link with their future school. With parental support I will organise visits from the teacher to my setting, or visits from their key worker from another setting to discuss their developmental progress.
Learning and development
- Specialist skills or training our staff have
I have worked closely with a child that had special educational needs for over 3 years.
I have experience from working in a nursery setting for 8 years working with children aged 3 months up to 11 years old.
I have attended training for speech and language.
Training for mindfulness.
Training for 5 to thrive.
Training for paediatric first aid
Safeguarding level 3.
- Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being
Children flourish with positive relationships, a safe environment and a healthy lifestyle. Children need support with their emotional well-being, so providing them with an enabling environment is so important to me.
I will be working in close partnership with all parents forming a positive relationship with them in addition to their child. I will also provide boundaries and a flexible daily routine. I will promote physical development and the need for healthy eating and adequate hydration on a daily basis.
- Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported
In addition to daily face to face feedback we will use a WhatsApp group to share images and learning updates everyday. We also encourage parents to share photos/ videos/ updates too :)
- Our complaints policy
I have a complaints policy that includes all information about how to complain and the process of what happens when making a complaint and who to make a complaint to.
In addition to my complaints policy I ask parents to complete a feedback form within the first 2 months of starting at Peapods Daycare, regarding my care and my setting and if there are any changes they would like to see. I also ask parents to note down anything in the whatapp chat. This way I hope to be able to resolve any queries or problems and to lessen any future problems before they arise.
Welfare
- Alterations we have made to make our building accessible
I am unable to do this as my only entrance has steps.
- Facilities we have for personal care
I have a downstairs bathroom with a toilet, sink, bath, shower, potty and a stall available to all that may need it.
For nappy changing I have an area in the living room that is a out of the way to give children some privacy during this time.
- Specialist resources we have
I have a variety of age and stage appropriate resources that will help to provide your child with opportunities to flourish whilst in my care. I am also willing to add some additional resources for individual needs.
- How we include all children in activities, such as trips
I will ensure that I plan any trips or outings to be age appropriate for all the children in my care. I will always try and visit the place prior to taking the children there to risk assess and check it is appropriate and beneficial for all the children attending. I will ensure all activities I plan will be easily adapted to suit every child's age and or stage of development.
