We are happy to accomodate any special educational needs where possible. Due to the uneven nature of woodlands we may not be able to accomodate all types of disability at this time but we will continue over time to improve accessibility. Forest School is proven to be especialy benificial for those with special educational needs, behavioural issues and mental health conditions. We offer a tailor made service at a time and date to suit both parties.
- How we make our service inclusive
We provide a flexible facility and work with the carer or parent according to the childs needs. Any reasonable adaptions to activities can be accomodated but the woodland terrain is not entirely suitable for all wheelchair users at this time.
- Staff SEND experience
No official SEND qualifications, but I have worked with a large range of visitors with special educational needs and their carers over the years. My son also has aspergers and I have attended several workshops and courses including the A.S. Early Birds Programme and Scallywags Intervention Service.
I also work for the Ambulance Service, now only occassionaly on a bank contract and have attended many patients with special needs in medical distress.
- How our service supports providers / schools / colleges
Forest School can support many areas of mainstream learning and curriculum.Studies show that Forest School has positive benifits for physical development, emotional intelligence and general wellbeing. I also work freelance in schools and nurseries where it is not possible to visit our site.
- Support at key transition points
as above. Sessions are tailored made for the individual or group so work around transitions is easily accomodated. We can evidence this recently, having worked with pre-school leavers summer 2014, and have been booked again.
- Other local or national support
Forest School Association,
Forest Schools Training,
Learning outside the Classroom,
- Resolving disagreements, mediation and making complaints
Complaints Policy and Behavior Policy available at any time. Complaints made directly to myself, regular use of feedback questionnairs.
