Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

Monitor children at termly assessments and then follow up support required i.e speech and language therapy etc

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

Ensure that children are progressing across all areas of development at termly assessments

Links we have to other agencies

Work closely with Area Senior SENCO, 2 speech and language therapists, occupational therapist and local CDC centre

How we support children transferring to school

Work very closely with Pendeen and St Just school to ensure children have regular visits in the summer term. Also worked with Newlyn, Trythall, St Buryan, St Levan, Sennen, Alverton and St Marys school to ensure they have information about the new children joining them.

Specialist skills or training our staff have

Majority of staff have Speech and Language training, Makaton and sensory processing training. SENCO also has dyspraxia, dyslexia and autism training.

Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

All staff have Healthy under 5's training. Setting provides healthy snacks and fun fit activities daily. all members of staff trained in Emotion Coaching.

All staff practice Emotion Coaching principals with their key children.

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

Key Person feed back information to parents regularly and twice yearly we hold parents meeting to discuss child's progress and next steps. We use Tapestry online journals so parents can view child's records and find out what their child's has been up to from home anytime they like.

Our complaints policy

Complaints are dealt with by the manager or if necessary a member of the committee. Complaints are recorded and if appropriate reported to Ofsted within 14 working days

Alterations we have made to make our building accessible

None - Purpose built building

Facilities we have for personal care

We have 3 small toilets for the children and an adult accessible toilet for wheelchair use and a separate room for changing nappies.

Specialist resources we have

Resources are sourced as appropriate. Three years ago we have a 1:1 worker with an autistic child who uses PECS system to communicate. We have experience with a number of children with sensory processing difficulties over the past few years and have provided resources to help them progress, from a large peanut ball, elastics and wooble cushions to equipment for heavy lifting outside.

How we include all children in activities, such as trips

We ensure that all children can access trips by providing accessible transport i.e local community bus and asking parents to provide help to ensure a good ratio of children to adults
