Active8 - For Young People with Physical Disabilities
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
COVID19: We've been embracing these strange times with plenty of events with our members. Quizzes, cartoon workshops, bingo among other things. See our Facebook page for more information on what we're up to!
Active8 is a small Cornish charity with two youth workers and volunteers, which provides support for young people with physical disabilities in Cornwall who do not have a learning disability. We aim to develop teamwork skills and personal maturity, while offering opportunities for adventure.
Our Acceler8 project enables young people aged 14 - 17 to meet for a series of fun and challenging residential weekends.
After8 is a social group for 16-25's which meets once a month somewhere in Cornwall, see the After Eight section of our website. There are also some adventurous activities like Tall Ships voyages and camping at a music festival, and disabled young people who want to do the Duke of Edinburgh's Award can find help to plan and achieve the expedition and other sections.
Advoc8 is for over 14s who want to discuss and make their voice heard to improve local services: there are opportunities to work on topics such as transition, housing and any consultations that take place, and currently, development of an IT tool to record when young people have influenced events.
Motive8 is a skills training course for a small group of young adults who choose to work systematically towards increasing their independence.
Young people are welcome to contact Active8 for further information - please visit our website.
