Aspires is a socialisation project for young people aged 8 - 18 who have a definite diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Young people need to be in mainstream education or of mainstream ability. Aspires is a countywide service.
The aims of the service are to develop and improve social skills, confidence and self esteem, and independence skills, with the overall aim being to enable young people to access mainstream social activities.
Young people join an Aspires group for up to a year. The group sessions include structured social skills activities, but also unstructured time to do activities of their choice. We have a high ratio of workers to provide support. The group is a safe place for young people to mix and make friends.
When young people finish the group, we can provide support to enable them to access mainstream activities. We also offer summer activities during the summer holidays.
