Lockwood-Urban Dance and Theatre School
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

We provide dance and theatre skills lessons for everyone aged 2 1/2 upwards. We work from syllabuses to provide students with the opportunity to take exams and gain qualifications. We hold 2 shows per year and provide opportunities for our students to perform at The Minack Theatre, The West End in London and Disneyland Paris. We also deliver and assess the arts award, this is an Ofqual registered qualification developed by Trinity College, London and the Arts Council, England. Everything we provide is fully inclusive and accessible for all.

How we make our service inclusive

Classes are adapted to suit all attendees and 1:1 support can be provided to help individuals to access all activities. Our ground floor studio has wheelchair access and a disabled toilet is also on the ground floor, there is a ramp to get in to the building.

Staff SEND experience

We have 7 qualified dance teachers who are all able to tailor their lessons to suit individuals needs. 3 of which are qualified early years childcare providers and 1 is a qualified primary school teacher. All staff are DBS checked, First aid trained and we have a designated level 3 safeguarding officer. Staff regularly attend CPD training and are willing and able to receive training based upon needs of different individuals.

How our service supports providers / schools / colleges

Our attendees currently attend outside of school hours.
