St Mellion VA C of E School
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

As small rural schools which caters for children aged from 4 – 11, and as a Church of England Voluntary Aided School, our shared vision is to provide an outstanding education that gives all pupils the opportunity to develop their potential within a happy, caring and safe environment grounded upon the values and vision of the Christian faith.

A child is far more likely to succeed where staff and parents work in harmony. We therefore aim to develop a close co-operation between home and school. Staff at school are particularly hardworking and enthusiastic. We wish our relationship with parents to be a joint partnership and hope that you will support and reinforce the teaching that your child is receiving at school by attending parents meetings, hearing your child read regularly, and by discussing your child’s work with them so that by working together, your child’s potential can be realised.

Although over 120 years old (St. Mellion School) & 150 years old (St Dominic), we provide modern facilities having had a large extensions and improvements across the past 15 years. Many pupils come from the village of St Mellion & St Dominic respectively and other outlying hamlets such as Pillaton & Harrowbarrow. However, some parents living in the Callington & Saltash areas choose to send their children to our Federation.

Since January 2011, St Mellion & St Dominic Schools have been federated. Located only 2 miles apart, they share staff and learning opportunities. In September 2015, the Federation began a partnership working with Sir Robert Geffery’s School who provide an Executive Head Teacher – Mrs Julie Curtis - for two afternoons per week. The Head Teacher of St. Mellion School is Mrs. S. Ogalo and the Head Teacher of St. Dominic is Ms. B. Moore. Both schools have much in common and enjoy working together on many levels; through joint curriculum projects where pupils work together, by combining staff for training events, and coming together for learning, clubs and community events across the school calendar. This has now extended across to our make the same learning & community links with our Partnership School.
