Altarnun Pre-School
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
We are a small Pre-school in the village of Altarnun, you can find us attached to Altarnun Primary School. We have a small dedicated team of four staff members. Our setting is a lovely bright environment with a large outside area, with a giant sand pit, raised beds for growing plants and flowers, mud kitchen, climbing equipment and mark making areas. We also have access to the school's playing field, including a woodland area and climbing equipment. We have close links with the adjoining school and join them for special occasions such as Harvest Festival, Sports Day and the annual Nativity. We are a friendly team with a parent led and hands on committee.

Early Years Local Offer response
- Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support
Most children can access our provision with the resources and experienced staff they have to care for them, sometimes we identify that children need more from us to fully access our provision.
We regularly review children's progress and development, where concerns are identified we discuss with parents/carers and then set individual targets for the child. We meet with parents/carers and review these targets every 6 weeks. Where needed we will refer to the Early Help Hub or the Inclusion Team for support and additional funding to support children to access our provision.
- How we identify and support children's learning and development needs
We invite parents/carers in to the setting and talk together about the child's development and how they play at home. This helps us gain an understanding of their starting point with us and we plan to help them meet their next steps through adult led activities and resources we offer. Each day we observe the children in their play, we make notes on tapestry which parents can see and we regularly review the children's progress to identify and learning and development needs.

- How we support children transferring to school
We have close links with Altarnun Primary School and other local primaries including Lewannick and Tregadillett.
We support families with transition into school, meeting with parents/carers to talk about children's progress and next steps before they start school. We invite teachers in to meet the children in our setting. We sometimes take children to visit school where the school invites us to. We provide school uniforms from the relevant schools in our dressing up area for the children to explore and try on. We meet with the class teacher to discuss the children's learning and development. We use social stories and photos to aid discussion and prepare the children for who and what they will see at school.

Through termly parent meetings, tapestry, annual reports, two year reviews and talking daily at beginning and the end of sessions.
