My name is Lauren Mates and I am an Ofsted registered childminder. I achieved my NVQ Level 2 in Children’s Care Learning and Development in 2009 and my Level 3 Diploma in the Children and Young Peoples Workforce in 2013 whlist working as a Nursery Nurse.  I am also paediatric first aid trained.
 
I share my home with my husband and 10 year old daughter. We live only a five minute walk into town and the shops and have various parks and play areas nearby.

I encourage the children to be active and play outside whenever possible and will take them on as many trips out as I can to allow them to experience lots of different environments. If we are unable to go out I have a large secure garden for the children to play in with outdoor toys such as a play house, sandpit, swing and slides. 

I also have three dogs The children will always be supervised whilst handling the dogs and will never be left unattended with them. The children will be encouraged to help care for them but will also be taught good hygiene such as washing hands after handling them.

We use a purpose build cabin in the garden for the children to play in, this provides easy free flow between the play room and the garden. Part of the garden is set up for our wild explorers club where we run forest school style sessions at least once a week. 

I provide a safe and secure environment for children. I understand that children have their own individual needs and I work with parents, carers, other settings and professionals to ensure that these needs are met.
