Tamar Valley Pre-school strives to promote a safe, caring and stimulating environment, in which all children flourish and reach their full potential”

The main ethos of our pre-school is building the independence and confidence skills needed for life and school. We do this by learning through play and delivering he early years foundation stage.

We provide a range of fun activities taking account of children's interests- these include role play, small world play, painting, drawing, chalks, focused themed activities, table top activities, water play, sand, gloop, gardening, cooking, writing, stories, trikes & scooters, climbing frame, tents & tunnels, junk modelling, walks, exploring our surroundings & charity days.

Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

- Trained and experienced SENCO - Individual Files to support children with additional needs, and identify those who may need extra support - Continual observations of children's progress using Cohort tracking and individual Progress Monitoring Records

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

- Written observations by SENCO and/or child's key worker, noting the issues causing concern - Discussions with parents/carers about any concerns they may have regarding their child's development - Tracking child's progress and noting where they are not meeting expected levels - Tailoring each child's next steps to appropriate areas of development, and providing stimulating activities and play opportunities to help them develop

Links we have to other agencies

- Cornwall Council SENCO Team - Local SALT - Child Development Centre

How we support children transferring to school

- Meetings between parents, SENCO, Key Worker and new teacher can be facilitated to discuss each child's progress and needs. - Children have the opportunity to attend sessions at Calstock School on Thursdays to learn the environment and build confidence before starting school - Excellent working relationship with staff at local school
