Rutherford, Lucy
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

I offer home based quality childcare to suit you and your family whilst meeting the requirements of the EYFS. My day is a combination of indoor and outdoor activities ranging from trips to the park, toddler groups and the aquarium to messy play and child led play using the huge range of resources in my playroom. my home is in South Hill, Callington and I offer wrap around childcare for Callington primary school and nursery as well as full and part time childcare.

I have previously been graded 'OUTSTANDING' four times by OFSTED.

I have had many years experience in different childcare settings from private nanny, running a toddler group, in a nursery, and a community nursery nurse with the health visiting service along with having children of my own.

I am able to offer 2,3 and 4 year old funding and except childcare vouchers.

I hold a full clean driving licence and have studied level 3 and 4 in Childcare learning and development and a BA in Professional Practice. I regularly update my paediatric first aid and safeguarding children training.

Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

Initially I will ask a parent/carer to complete an 'all about me' form, then during settling in period I will make observations and assessments to enable me to build up a picture of your child. I then work closely with the EYFS framework making regular observations and trembly assessments, which are recorded in your child's learning journey, which I send home termly for you to share and comment on. I use the National Strategies communication guidance to record each individual child's language and communication development. I carry out a 2 year review with the parent/carer and share this with the health visitor when they carry out their review. I encourage regular communication at pick up and drop offs and through home diaries.

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

By using the above strategies and procedures along with building up a strong relationship with both child and parent and carrying out regular training I feel I am able to identify and support learning and development needs of the children in my care

Links we have to other agencies

I regularly use the children's centre in Callington and have strong links with them, I also have made referrals to the speech and language therapist and have strong links with the local Primary school and Nursery and share children's learning and development with permission from parents/carers with these

How we support children transferring to school

I support children who are transferring to school by making sure they are prepared with being able to do their coat up, toilet themselves, wash and dry hands, get themselves dressed and undressed for PE etc... I also make visits to the school and have had the new teacher visit my home to meet the child. I provide transition books with photographs of the child in the new setting to take home and share with their families. I have also read the 'school readiness' information produced by Ofsted.

Welfare

Specialist skills or training our staff have

Paediatric first aid, CAMAT training

Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

I risk assess my premises and any outings and activities we undertake to ensure they are suitable for the children in my care

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

Daily through conversations at pick up and drop off and through daily diaries. Termly assessments with next steps are shared with parents and feedback sought.

Our complaints policy

My complaints policy explains the process of contacting OFSTED if a parent or carer feels it necessary to make a complaint, However I always encourage parents or careers to discuss any concerns they may have initially with me. I understand that it is a condition of my registration that I will investigate and respond within 28 days of a complaint. All my complaints will be made available to Ofsted.

Access

Alterations we have made to make our building accessible

Although I have 7 steps to access my home I have fitted a hand rail to make them safer.

Facilities we have for personal care

I have an upstairs bathroom with shower, bath, toilet and wash basin and nappy changing facilities.

Specialist resources we have

I have both single and double pushchairs with rain covers, car seats, high chairs, booster seats, stair gates and potties.

How we include all children in activities, such as trips

I include all children in activities and opportunities by adapting them to meet the individual need based on each child's learning and development stage.
