Leedstown Pre-School

Our Early Years Foundation Stage unit consists of preschool and reception aged children. This mix in ages has proved very successful, especially for transitions in the summer term.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, working towards our reception children achieving the Early Learning Goals before moving into year one. Our curriculum provides children with the opportunities to develop in the prime and specific areas of the curriculum.

Our youngest children free flow indoors and outdoors during the morning with two very short adult led activities. Key workers then work on children’s individual targets through play. Preschool children are in school for the morning and afternoons, from 9 until 12 or all day from 9 till 3pm. The sessions the children attend can be flexible. Whether you wish to attend for all day sessions or just mornings, we can accommodate whichever suits your needs. We accept 15 hours and 30 hours funding as well as parents who wish to pay for additional hours AT £4 per hour.

Our Reception children have an adult led phonics and numeracy session during the morning and then also free flow during learning through play. We expect children to be using and developing the skills they are taught as they are playing. For example children may write a label for something they have built in the construction area.

We aim to follow the children’s interests as best we can when planning our topics.

Should you wish to arrange a visit for your child, please do contact school.
