Our large Victorian property is surrounded by wonderful gardens including our Forest school, Truro Forest School, where children can thrive in an outdoor learning environment. Our setting is a magnificent place for your children’s curiosity to ignite.
Our team at Truro have many years of experience. All our team are DBS checked and fully Paediatric First Aid trained, providing a safe and welcoming nursery.

- Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support
We have good relationships with the families who attend and encourage them to share information about their children's learning and development, especially if they have any concerns about any areas. Our key workers all hold a good knowledge of the EYFS which enables them to work out which broad phase of development the children are working within. If we feel that a child requires addtional support we have a robust strategy for referring children to the Early help hub which enables us to request help from a particular service (ie Speech ad Language therapy, parenting support, family support, early years inclusion and Educational psychologists.)
- How we identify and support children's learning and development needs
We complete termly assessments on every child which highlights any areas of concern. We have a designated SENco who also has support from her Manager and other Room Leaders . If we find we have concerns regarding an individual child or area of learning we are able to talk to parents first, then decide what steps to take next.
- Links we have to other agencies
We hold regular TAC, team around the child, meetings. We have permission from some parents to discuss their child's development with the health visiting team. We regularly have visits from SALT, and the EY team.
The Nursery Senco is very familiar with the Early years inclusion team and holds contact details details for all relevant professionals.
- How we support children transferring to school
At the start we support parents, if needed, with filling out application forms for the schools of their choice, and ensure all children have applied for a place before the deadline.
When they have been allocated a place we work with the families to isicuss transition, school visits, and teacher visits to our setting. Children who have SEND will have additional support before moving onto school. We arrange TAC meetings with parents, SENco, keyworker, new teacher and School SENco, area SENco and other professionals too. This helps us all to prepare for what strategies need to be in place before transition.
Learning and development
- Specialist skills or training our staff have
All staff are paediatric first aid trained, and any new employees who do not yet hold the certificate will attend training at the earliest opportunity. Training attended by other members of staff include an accredited Makaton Course, safeguarding, assessments and tracking, letters and sounds, Senco induction and EYFS.
- Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being
We are always available to discuss anything with parents if they want to. We offer a healthy nutritious menu to cater for all children. We have leaflets and posters on display.
- Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported
We will discuss everything that is going to be put in place with parents and we also keep them informed using email, and letters. Copies of action plans and targets are shared with parents. We use a secure online software to record and share information regarding children's learning and development with their parents. Parents are able to provide us with ongoing observations from home and keep us up to date with milestones.
- Our complaints policy
A complaints policy is in place and followed. Every complaint is treated fairly and with respect for both parties. complaints are taken to the correct person and dealt with promptly and confidentially. They are handled sensitively and professionally. The Manager deals with any complaints in the first instance and seeks advice from the Head Office Management team if needed.
Welfare
- Facilities we have for personal care
All staff are aware of how to make sure children are changed whilst respecting their privacy. The older children are supported to become independent with their toileting ready for school.
- Specialist resources we have
We also have selection of sensory equipment, which support the children with their well being. We will take advise from outside agencies such as Occupational Therapist and speech and language.
Daisy Fays Truro also run a forest school on the grounds with a qualified experienced Forest School Teacher.
- How we include all children in activities, such as trips
We have pushchairs for our younger children who are not able to walk, and all activities provided can be adapted for the use of all children in our setting, including low tables, tuff spots etc.
