St Tudy Pre-school
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
St Tudy Pre-school now has its own premises situated within the grounds of St Tudy playing fields.
As well as our own enclosed outdoor space attached to the preschool we also have use of the field and the park equipment.
We take children from 12 months old and since we have opened our new setting we have been overwhelmed with new children, we now have 34 children registered with us.
We are now open 5 days a week and offer 30 hour funding.
Recent Ofsted - October 2016 - Good.

Early Years Local Offer response
- Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support
When meeting a family for the first time we would ask them to fill in an Enrolment form with lots of details about their Child's development. The Family would agree a settling in period and in this time a keyworker allocated to the family . We make regular observations and asessments on Children using EYFS Tracking sheets which feeds into our next steps for the child and informs our planning. We contribute to a Child's Two year check and use ECAT Monitoring tool for all Children.
- How we identify and support children's learning and development needs
Specific training is under way this includes Visuals, Makaton, Behaviour, Making sense Training for all staff. Our setting uses Visuals supports and we can carry out small group work with Children where neccesary.
- Links we have to other agencies
Our setting works with a variety of outside agencies. Including Speech therapists, locality Senco,Portage workers,Health visitors etc.
- How we support children transferring to school
In the spring term we invite our feeder school teachers/ assistants into our setting to meet our Children going up to school to start building relationships. We then take them on weekly visits to the school with one member of staff and this includes staying for lunch. The parents/carers are invited to a weekly Learning together session also. Unfortunately during the Covid pandemic we have been unable to visit local schools. We hope next year our transition children will be able to visit their prospective primary schools.
Learning and development
- Specialist skills or training our staff have
The manager and deputy manager's all hold a minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare. All Staff have Paediatric first aid, Food safety, Manual handling, Health & Safety and Safeguarding.
- Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being
Parent partnership is crucial as well as planning for specific activities. We provide healthy snacks and encourage the parents to provide a healthy lunch. We encourage and support all the Children to grow in independence, confidence and their health and well being, particularly throughout the past 18 months.
- Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported
This is done by informal chats with the Child's keyworker and also being invited to regular termly learning journey meetings (which unfortunately we have to put on hold during the pandemic) However should there be any concerns, parents are welcome to arrange a meeting with their child's key worker if they feel they need to. Communication also takes place through Tapestry our online learning journeys. Parents are free to add comments or ask questions. We ask the parents to contribute to the learning journeys with WOW moments and photos from home.
