Blisland Primary Academy
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Blisland School was built in 1880 and serves the village of Blisland and surrounding countryside area. Blisland School is located just outside the beautiful village of Blisland in a hamlet, named Waterloo, on the very edge of Bodmin Moor.
The school is situated only a mile from the A30 and is five miles from the nearest town of Bodmin, bordered to the north by St Breward parish; to the west by St Mabyn and Helland parishes; to the south by Cardinham, Warleggan and St Neot parishes and to the northeast by Altarnun parish.
Blisland School has a nursery which caters for children from the start of the term of their third birthday. There is one infant class and one junior class, all staffed by caring practitioners. We have three playgrounds and a field. We regularly visit Forest School with the children and believe that outdoor learning is key to children's wider development. All children have access to laptops and ipads.
In December 2011, Ofsted inspected Blisland School and recognised the school as Outstanding. The Ofsted inspection team said, "The school is a happy place. Through the strong family atmosphere which permeates the school, pupils learn to take very good care of each other. As a result of excellent teaching throughout the school, pupils achieve very well and attain significantly above average by the end of Year 6".
Blisland School is a very special place offering a unique, quality education.
Please feel free to come and see our wonderful school and fantastic children; you will receive a very warm welcome!

Inclusion details
- How we make our service inclusive
Blisland Primary is situated at the top of steps and unfortunately does not have wheel chair access. We have a nursery and EYFS unit situated in the lower part of our grounds so stairs do not need to be used by younger members of our school too often.
- Staff SEND experience
All of a staff our trauma informed to support children's emotional needs during times of stress and crisis. Staff are team teach trained and have vast experience with children with sensory processing and ASC. sensory time, strategies and visuals are used well to support children who may have need of them.
- Support at key transition points
Children have transition days when moving to new teaching classes or schools. Passports are created for children to help them familiarise themselves with a new and changing environment. parent groups and stay and play sessions are available for children starting our Reception and nursery.
- Resolving disagreements, mediation and making complaints
We follow our academy's complaints proceeders and details can be found on their website:
