Inclusion details

- How we make our service inclusive
All of our homes are adapted to suit the needs of each individual, we pride ourselves on ensuring the service is designed to meet their specific needs. Staff receive comprehensive training before they begin work in our homes and are encouraged to develop their training further. All staff are required to complete the Skills for Care Certificate and Diploma Level 2-3 in Health & Social Care (relevant to their job roles). Other training includes: Diploma level 5 in Leadership in Health & Social Care, deprivation of liberty safeguards, Mental Capacity Act, dignity in care, positive behaviour support (PBS), autism awareness and learning disabilities, and infection control.
- Staff SEND experience
We offer an introduction to Makaton and training on epilepsy awareness and administration of emergency medication and First aid, fire safety and manual handling within the work place/home. We also provide training on food safety. In addition, each home has specially tailored inductions reflecting customer needs.
- How our service supports providers / schools / colleges
Our support teams often accompany individuals to local colleges enabling them to access courses/training.We do not provide one-to-one support within schools.
- Support at key transition points
Support staff liaise with families, professionals and other involved parties ensuring that any transition, ie starting college and moving home, is as smooth as possible. This can often be a challenging time, with families needing a guiding hand, such as accompanying an individual to college and being on hand if they become anxious and need extra support.
- Other local or national support
We have built up an excellent reputation across Cornwall and have links with many charities and organisations providing advice and support to families, such as the National Autistic Society, the Parent Carer Council for Cornwall, Holifield Farm Project, Chaos Cafe, Kehelland Trust, Cornwall Carers Service, Cornwall Autism Partnership, Volunteer Cornwall and Cornwall People First. We also actively seek out specialist services for the people we support, such as music and animal therapies.
