Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

At Marhamchurch Pre School we are committed to providing quality provision based on equality of opportunity for all children and their families. We provide a designated member of staff to work closely with families and children with special needs. The SENCO attends regular training to provide families with relevant and current information to support the families and children in our care, maintaining positive partnerships between practitioners and parents.

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

All children, regardless of their ability or additional needs have full access to the curriculum and assessments are used to identify children who may need extra support. The progress of children are monitored on a regular basis with many opportunities for staff to share the development and progress that children make with parents and carers.

Links we have to other agencies

Staff work very closely with outside agencies using specific packages to support the child's individual learning and development.

How we support children transferring to school

We work very closely with the local primary school and share on site facilities including the school hall for weekly PE sessions and the library. There are strong links between staff and teaching staff at the school with regular meetings and shared activities including story time. The reception teacher spends some time at the setting building relationships with children before the transition and " learning together" sessions are in place for children to spend time in their new environment.

Welfare

Specialist skills or training our staff have

All staff at the Pre school are NVQ level 3 qualified and above and attend regular training, including child protection, SENCO, paediatric first aid and health and safety.

Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

We are a Healthy Early Years setting & promote healthy eating & outdoor exercise, Forest school & PE in the school hall.

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

Face to face contact is always on offer at the setting on a daily basis with a key person system in place for all children. Parents are offered regular parent consultations to discuss progress, development and any other concerns that may arise.

Our complaints policy

We welcome suggestions on how to improve the setting and will give prompt and serious attention to any concern about the running of the setting. We have a set of procedures in place for dealing with any concerns giving satisfactory conclusions to all parties involved. If a complaint is made parents/carers have the opportunity to talk to the manager. If this is not satisfactory the complaint or concern will need to be put in writing. When the complaint has been dealt with by the manager/ chairperson parents/carers are invited back into the setting to discuss the outcome. This will be completed within 28 days. If the complaint is still not satisfied further procedures are in place until a satisfactory outcome has been reached. We keep a summary log of all complaints made.

Access

Alterations we have made to make our building accessible

The building has been purpose built to provide care for all children regardless of their needs. At the front of the building access is made by a ramp and a disabled toilet is available if required. Resources and equipment is accessible for all children with an open plan room to see all children and staff at all times.

Facilities we have for personal care

There are two children's toilets in the main room providing children access at all times to encourage independence.

Specialist resources we have

We have no specialist resources on site but would be aware of how to access when required.

How we include all children in activities, such as trips

Parents are invited to attend on our annual trip away from the setting which is offered to all settings.
