Flying gulls Nursery and wrap around care plays a major part in the extended schools delivery at Mullion Primary.

It Provides Breakfast club, Nursery and After-school club care, Nursery care is from 0-5 years old breakfast club and after school club is from 0-11 years old children.

Flying Gulls Nursery have a team of highly qualified and experienced staff, who provide a safe school environment for children’s learning development.

We have a very large main playroom which is well-equipped, and our outdoor area provides opportunities for our children to have free flow most of the time, giving our children opportunities to take part in physical play, Imaginative play and co-operative play.

We are also lucky to have access to the school field and will use the school hall for indoor physical activities twice a week.

At Flying Gulls we believe that Children learn best through play, with this in mind we provide well planned activities and play for our children in line with the early years frame work, making sure that each area of learning is covered.

We provide quality early years education within the guidelines of the New EYFS framework, covering all seven areas of a child's learning and development.

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

We have a SENCO LEAD and SENCO support team in place with lots of experience and regularly updating training and attend regular SENCO meetings   

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

Regular training, keeping up to date. and have experience of working in a thrive school environment. 

Links we have to other agencies

We have many links with other agencies, we would closely with the health visting team, S.A.L.T early years inclusuion team. 

How we support children transferring to school

As are setting is next door to the school, we have a very close working relationship with the early years teacher. We take every opportunity to be involved with the school and we are very lucky that we share an outdoor early years playground with them.


We start to teach the preschoolers read write inc in line with school so they will be already aware of read write inc before starting school. 

Welfare

Specialist skills or training our staff have

Staff at Flying Gulls are always taking on new training to keep us up todate and learning new skills.


The SENco Lead has just completed her level 3 SENco and will be carry on training within SEN throughtout the year.


Our under 2 lead keeps up todate with baby hub training always improving her skills.


We have just signed up to childs wonderlust outdoor trainging, we feel its important for the children to explore the outdoors and learning through outdoor play as  much as possible.

Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

Children and staff health and well being is very important to Flying Gulls we are always spending time outside exploring the world. we are changing and improving our setting all the time trying to create a hygge approach.

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

We have meeting with parents to keep them up to date on their childs learning and development.


We will always make time to listen


We use Tapestry which is a online program which keeps you up to date on your childs progress.

Access

Alterations we have made to make our building accessible

We are very lucky as we are set within the grounds of Mullion primary school so our building was already accessible. we have however had a big change to our garden area, and we are having ongoing improvement throughout the next year.

Facilities we have for personal care

We have a lovely area in our setting for the Children to use for personal care, this has two toilets which are private for the children to use and we also have a small area within our baby area that can be used if need.

Specialist resources we have

We are always updated are resources for the need of the children we reveiw this on a half term basis and put an action plan together to update and buy new resouces for the child.

How we include all children in activities, such as trips

It is important to us to included all children with different needs to be included in all our activities and we risk assess and adapt for eachs childs needs.
