Breage Bright Sparks Pre-School
Services and organisations that have the Local Offer flash have filled out inclusion information, meaning that they meet the needs of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

Breage Bright Sparks Pre-school provides a safe, happy and stimulating environment in which our children are valued as unique individuals, supported by caring, experienced and qualified practitioners. Learning through play and interaction in a place where they have empowerment over their environment. We promote an atmosphere of mutual respect and encouragement where children are prepared for their next steps in learning. So that they are happy, confident, creative, sociable and enthusiastic learners who look forward to challenges with a positive attitude. Strong partnerships between home and pre-school are created, liaising closely with parents, other professionals and linking with our community. We have strong links with the primary school and have excellent transition for the children.

Breage Bright Sparks Preschool is a registered charity and is committee run. All members of staff have a suitable qualification and are required to attend, safeguarding,  first aid, food hygiene and other relevant courses to update skills & knowledge and to help maintain a professional and sensitive attitude to the needs of all children.

Breage Bright Sparks Pre-school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and therefore expects all staff, visitors and volunteers to share this same commitment. Together, we must ensure that our children, families and staff are safe, valued, cared for at all times and are nurtured in order to thrive and achieve the very best that they can be.  We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures rigorously, ensuring that all our children and their families receive effective support and protection.

Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

Each child has their starting points recorded upon entry to preschool by their key worker. We will then observe and plan accordingly for these children in order to extend their learning.

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

We use the on line learning journal format from Tapestry. Development is recorded on tracker charts termly, in line with the EYFS developmental matters framework and this allows us to identify any areas of learning that may require additional support. These form part of the child's learning journey which builds a comprehensive picture of each child.

Links we have to other agencies

We have strong links with our locality SENCO and also our local children centre teachers. In the past we have worked with a translator to help a child with EAL.

How we support children transferring to school

We have very strong links with the local school and this provides a very smooth transition to school for all children.

Specialist skills or training our staff have

All staff attend training in order to meet welfare requirements and if further training is required for a particular child this will be carried out.

Support we offer regarding children's health and well-being

We will attend additional training to meet any health needs that a child may have. We keep clear medication and accidents records for each child. We follow the health and well being requirements from the EYFS.

Ways we inform parents about how their child is being supported

We hold termly parent meetings to allow parents to come in and meet with their child's keyworker. We offer an open door policy so parents can come in and speak to someone anytime they need to. By using Tapestry parents are able to look at and add to their child's learning journey at any time.

Our complaints policy

All information needed and how to make a compliant is available on request and there is a poster on the noticeboard giving Ofsted contact details.

Alterations we have made to make our building accessible

There is a ramp to access preschool and there is a lift installed at the school to allow access to upstairs.

Facilities we have for personal care

There is a separate accessible toilet available to use.

Specialist resources we have

Low level storage to allow easy access for all children.

How we include all children in activities, such as trips

Parents come on our trips with us, this allows them to meet other parents and offer them a chance to speak to staff in a less formal way if wanted.
