Early Years Local Offer response

Learning and development

Systems and strategies we have in place to identify children that may require additional support

Our induction discussion with parents highlights any concerns that parents may have. We undertake initial assessments 'In the beginning' for all children. We undertake 2 year progress checks that we share with parents. We undertake summative assessments to check children's learning and development each term. We allocate a Key Person for every child to work closely with each child and family. We undertake a cycle of observations , assessments and evaluation to assess children's next steps within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) We are competent in writing children's Individual Learning Plans which breaks down and supports children with additional needs next steps  We use various methods to assess children such as Every Childs a Talker (EcAT) communication and Leuven Scales involvement and well being. Reports from other professionals are incorporated into development plans etc

How we identify and support children's learning and development needs

Children's learning and development needs are identified as above and support put in place such as: Visual timetables, Makaton, Singing and Signing, Letters and Sounds Activities, Adaptations to physical equipment ie scissors, balls, chairs etc

Links we have to other agencies

Speech and Language Therapists (SALT,) Area SENCo, Educational Psychologist, Children Centre, Teacher, Pre-school Learning Alliance

How we support children transferring to school

*We invite receiving schools and or settings to visit our pre-school- this enables them to familiarise themselves with the child and share information in partnership with parents *We complete 'Moving on' forms that state where children are with regards to their learning and development within the seven areas of the EYFS. *We set up our role play area with books about school, feelings and we resource it with different school uniforms * We have also taken a child with additional needs to their new school and have taken photos of their new teachers, environment and resources and have made a book to share with the child and family to promote familiarisation, security and confidence.

Our complaints policy

We have a complaints policy in place that we share with parents at induction.

Access

Alterations we have made to make our building accessible

Facilities we have for personal care

We have toilets that we use for personal care but no separate areas as we are limited on space.

How we include all children in activities, such as trips

All children are included in all activities based on their needs such as 1:1 support , differentiation such as looped scissors , triangle pencils , different seating.
