Take 3Take 3 is an evidence-based course in two parts for parents of young people aged between 12 and 16. It was originally developed to support parents of at-risk or vulnerable young people whose challenging behaviour was causing problems for parents and/or the community, though it can be used with any group of parents. Part one is a basic course of 10 “core” units, and part 2 has 10 optional sessions focusing on specific issues. The “Three” of the title refers to the three vital elements of effective parenting:

  • Nurture
  • Structure
  • Self Care

It also refers to breathing techniques that the course teaches to help a parent stay calm in stressful situations.
